Owner Builder Pre-Screening Questions

  1. What type of new home are you proposing to build?
  2. Do you intend to personally engage in, arrange for, or manage all or substantially all of the construction of the proposed new home?
  3. Do you intend to hire a builder general contractor, project manager or construction manager to build the proposed new home?
  4. What ownership interest do you have in the land where the new home is to be built?
  5. Is the interest referred to in question 4, in your individual name or in the name of a corporation or in the names of other individuals?
  6. If the land is held in the name of a corporation, is the corporation a family farm corporation?
  7. If the land is held by a family farm corporation, is the applicant a director? If yes, you must attach a resolution to your Application that has been passed by the corporation, affirming that the corporation will not dispose of the new home for a period of at least one (1) year from the date of first occupancy.
  8. How do you intend to use the new home?
  9. If you intend to reside in the home, how long do you intend to reside in it?
  10. Is this the first home you or anyone ordinarily resident with you has built as an owner builder?
  11. If the answer to the above question is no, you will only be eligible for an Owner Builder Authorization if you or a person ordinarily resident with you has not completed construction of another owner-built home within the past 18 months. If this is your third or more owner-built home, the waiting period may be longer than 18 months. Please list the address and occupancy dates of all homes built by you or a person ordinarily resident with you under the owner-builder exemption since July 1999.
  12. Have you ever been subject to the following actions as a result of non-compliance with the Homeowner Protection Act?
